Lucy Collins took on the Heptonstall 15 fell race at the weekend. After 2 years of not racing she’s worked hard to get back amongst it, finishing 3rd lady.
The race takes you across the best of the local landscape around Heptonstall in the upper Calder Valley.
The race is started on the ancient cobbled main street, with a welcome and blessing from the local vicar.
The 15 mile route has you hurtling down grassy slopes, struggling across stretches of bog, scrambling up through thick heather, dodging through dense woodland and – most of all – racing over some wild open countryside.
The Thai curry and flapjacks at the end were a particular highlight for Lucy.
