The Yorkshire Veterans Athletics Association (YVAA) annual awards presentation evening was held at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club on Friday 17th November.
The highlight of the event for Queensbury was the award of one of the evening’s main trophies to Pauline Naylor: the Ladies Overall Events Points Winner. This reflected a huge commitment from Pauline: representing QRC in no less than thirteen YVAA race across the Yorkshire region during 2024. This included the 10-mile Road Championship, the Cross Country Championship, the Fell Race Championship and all ten Grand Prix cross country races. To achieve the necessary points Pauline finished in the top 3 places in her age category in each event …with some serious competition from other clubs from across the region. A big well done to Pauline personally, and on behalf of the club.
Robin Naylor received the award for top runner his age category and Andrew Paterson won a prize for attending all the Grand Prix events. QRC member, Mark Crabtree, who ran the Grand Prix series for his first clam club (Halifax), won 2nd place award in his age category.
The YVAA put on a very mixed calendar of events across the year with a competitive but very friendly ethos. Some of the races are already online.
