Instead of club running this week, Matt, Mick, Gary and Carl decided to take on a midweek race. Eshton Moor fell race, and for a small race on a Thursday evening in Gargrave, there was some real quality in the field.
In addition to our 4 athletes, there was @tomrogadams_ (taking the win) who regularly competes for GB on the world stage, and breaking the women’s course record @amelie.runs (4th overall) who was part of the GB team that won the under-20 World Mountain and Trail running champs earlier this year. Not bad for a field of 71 runners.
At just over 5 mile with 550ft of climbing, the course is an out and back over undulating fields in beautiful surroundings. It starts with a gentle climb up a long field before picking up the path of the Pennine Way. It follows this over Eshton Moor, down and across the river then around the woods before heading back the same way with a climb back over Eshton Moor. All for £5! BARGAIN!
With all the rain we’ve had recently it was a little soggy underfoot and heavy going in places.
Gary finished in 10th place, with Matt, Mick and Carl all finishing within a few places of each other, in 23rd, 25th and 26th respectively. Carl also picked up a few beers for finishing first MV60.
Well done chaps
