The Chairperson has a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of the Running Club. The Chairperson ensures that the committee functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.
| Ensure the committee functions properly |
- To ensure matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner.
- To bring impartiality and objectivity to meetings and decision-making.
- To plan for recruitment and renewal of the Committee.

| Ensure the Running club is run effectively |
- To liaise with the Club Officials as appropriate, to keep up to date with running club activities.
- To co-ordinate the committee to ensure responsibilities for particular roles within the running club are met.
- To facilitate change and address conflict within the running club, liaising with the club secretary to achieve this.

- To communicate effectively the vision of the running club.
- To represent the running club at external meetings and events.
- To be aware of current issues that might affect the running club

| To inform the Management Committee in advance of any meetings that cannot be attended. |
