This weekend the Whettlocks headed north of the border, to meet up with some cousins, and take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF).
Saturday – EMF 10K
This takes part in the stunning surroundings of Holyrood Park. Starting and finishing near Dynamic Earth, this route offers striking panoramic views of the city and Edinburgh Castle. It was a bit too warm & sunny to be comfortable on the undulating course. Karol finished in a time of 01:11:24, and claimed the vacant F65 club record.
Sunday – EMF Half
A fantastic fast and flat route route which takes in some of Edinburgh’s most iconic landmarks as well as offering picturesque views along the East Lothian coastline. An early start (8am) meant the conditions were reasonably cool for the runners. Phillip, spurred on by shouts of “Go Queensbury!” from a group of Pudsey Pacers and Richard Roulson, posted an age-grade PB of 01:38:59,
(Richard was representing his primary club Metro Aberdeen, and secured first place in the M60 category in a PB of 01:25:11)
