Bradford 10k 2025

1st June 2025 saw the return of Bradford 10k after missing a year. QRC had the 2nd most club entrants in the whole race at 22 officially (definitely more because I wasn’t even counted!), maybe because it is a great flat course or it’s part of the club championship.

So being part of the race committee and helping to choose this years races, I’ve been trying to enter as many of them as I can. Starting the race in the championship table immediately below Pauline has shown me that it is a combination of speed and attendance that gets the scores (I was racing for the points just by turning up, thought I’d leave Pauline to the speedwork!)

The warm-up was far too vigorous for us all but we were stuck in prime position for participating after having a club photo at the start. Having type 1 diabetes is always a juggling act and it didn’t fail me on race day. My sensor stopped working, I’d no idea what my blood sugar was, my insulin pump had no idea how much to give me, I literally just chewed on jelly babies every now and then and hoped for the best! But eventually I got to the finish and managed to avoid the first aiders. Pauline made it up to 3rd in the table but I stayed a respectable 8th. Championship is for everyone and running is for everyone, see you all in Blackpool for my next Championship race!

A special mention to Martin who was Male winner 65 plus!

Well done Martin!
